Diploma in Expanded Training in Orthodontics.
The Expanded Training in Orthodontics is a training module designed for practicing Certified Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Hygienists wishing to augment their existing skills with further training in orthodontic treatments and procedures. Students will learn the categories of orthodontic treatment and to identify and perform dental maintenance on instruments, equipment and accessories used in orthodontics. They will also learn about various orthodontic appliances and their applications in treatment. In addition, students will be trained to prepare, organize and effectively perform various orthodontic duties, from accurate documentation of orthodontic procedures and health histories to fitting and removal of various appliances to assessment by the dentist.
Once this module has been successfully completed, the student must apply to the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia (CDSBC) to have this designation added to their certificate.
*For those who do not have their dental certification, CDI College also offers a Dental Assisting program that trains you to enter the dental field.
