Description: This course focuses on listening and speaking to others in a technical workplace environment to effectively exchange information and instructions. Participants will also build their vocabulary, learn cultural aspects of effective communication, and practice their grammar through writing effective messages.

ELS1410 English for Business: Communication for Participation
Description: This course focuses on ease of communication for the purpose of giving and receiving feedback and opinions effectively in a variety of situations in a technical workplace environment. Participants will practice effective participation in meetings. The effects of culture on the workplace will be explored in order to build confidence to interact in any situation at work. Participants will continue to build a solid base of business/technical vocabulary and practice writing more complex business messages with a focus on grammatical accuracy.

ELS1420 English for Business: Communication to Persuade
Description: This course focuses on effective business communication, encouraging participants to prepare for leadership roles in the workplace through leading meetings, making effective presentations, and writing persuasive messages. The nature of effective interaction in the Canadian and global workplace community will be explored. Vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation will continue to be stressed.

ELS1430 English for Business: Communication for Success
Description: In this course, students create individual plans to polish language skills based on grammar, pronunciation, and writing diagnostics. Students will write reports and make presentations on topics of relevance to their professional interests. Time will be spent each class honing writing accuracy and building clear speech patterns.
