Diploma in Medical Office Assistant – Advanced Practice
The Medical Office Assistant – Advanced Practice program provides the skills and knowledge to be a well-qualified, practicing Medical Office Assistant (MOA) through training in medical terminology, office and clinical procedures, billing and electronic health records, keyboarding, and transcription. In addition, the program fosters the development of interpersonal skills, organizational effectiveness, and communication skills necessary to function in a medical environment.
Through an advanced practice phase, students will enhance their knowledge and skills in medical language, billing and transcription, and advanced clinical procedures. This additional training will help graduates improve medical practice efficiency and support an enhanced delivery of patient care. Students will also have the advantage of a strong understanding of BC’s Practice Support Program, an ongoing training program occurring in the healthcare community for general practitioners and their MOAs.
