Diploma in Early Learning and Child Care.
CDI College’s Early Learning and Child Care diploma program prepares students with the knowledge and practical experience necessary to obtain. Graduates of this diploma program will meet the program requirements to obtain the Child Development Supervisor Certification through Alberta Human Services, Early Childhood Development Branch.
The diploma program consists of several course categories including child development, programming, relationships, and related English courses. These courses focus on developing the language and behaviour of a child through instruction and play. Students learn how to organize and manage lesson plans which include activities in expressive arts, fine arts, storytelling, health and safety, and self-esteem building. Graduates of the program develop strong interpersonal communications, time management, organizational, and stress management skill sets. To graduate from the diploma program, students must complete a practicum in two phases. This practical work experience is crucial for students because it gives them hands-on experience in real work scenarios. Students will gain experience under the supervision of professional child care workers who become mentors and counsellors. Graduates can be employed in daycares or may seek work in other child-oriented service centres.
