Course description
The program is four years in length (120 credits) and is open only to full-time students. Full-time students normally take 30 credits in each semester, that is, a maximum of 15 credits in each of the Fall and Winter terms.
The program requires 96 credits for the Specialization program plus 24 elective credits. Program content is as follows:
* Group A
84 required credits in psychological, sociological and philosophical aspects in education; growth and development of the child; family, parenting, and education in Québec; developmental issues of children such as behaviour and learning problems, and the gifted; teaching of reading, language arts, mathematics, and science concepts to preschool and primary children; historical and current issues in preschool and primary education; practice teaching and internship in preschool, kindergarten and primary school; ethics and religious culture
* Group B
12 elective credits in the teaching of values, human sciences or a second language
* Group C
24 elective credits outside the Department of Education.
