ObjectivesThis part-time program will provide the student with instruction of how to use SolidWorks mechanical design automation software to build parametric models of parts and assemblies and how to make drawings of those parts and assemblies. Advanced sketching and part modeling techniques will be covered including 3D sketches, lofts and sweeps. Included in the program will be the design and documentation process, using the full power of SolidWorks, including Sheet metal, PhotoWorks, Animator, Cosmos XPress, SolidWorks Utilities, 3D Instant Website, 3D Content Central and FeaturWorks. Students will also be doing projects where the focus is on using Solidworks to completely document a project from concept through to finished product.

Description: This course will allow the student to demonstrate SolidWorks knowledge gained from the prerequisite courses: SolidWorks Introduction, Intermediate, Advanced and Drawings. The students will have their choice of projects from either product design or machine design. Each project will have required outputs and distinct SolidWorks techniques that must be employed. However, how the project is completed is up to the student.

DRWG1540 SolidWorks - Intermediate
Description: Recommended: DRWG1550 SolidWorks - Introduction, proficient in the use of the Windows Operating System, mechanical design experience and the ability to read mechanical engineering drawings.
This is an intermediate mechanical design course that includes part modelling, assembly and drawing generation. Emphasis will be on efficient use of the SolidWorks software for generating design models, building on the prerequisite course SolidWorks - Introduction. This is a process based training course where the focus is on the process and procedures used to complete a particular task as well as hands on practice. Advanced sketching and part modelling techniques are covered, including lofts and sweeps. Part creation in the context of an assembly (top down design) is covered as well as advanced mating types and techniques.

DRWG1550 SolidWorks - Introduction
Description: Recommended: Windows XP. This course will provide the student with an introduction on how to use SolidWorks mechanical design automation software to build parametric models of parts and assemblies and how to make drawings of those parts and assemblies. This is a process based training course and will emphasize the process and procedures used to complete a particular task. By utilizing case studies to illustrate these processes, the student learns the necessary commands, options and menus in the context of completing a design task.

DRWG1600 SolidWorks - Advanced
Description: Recommended: DRWG1540 Solidworks-Intermediate, proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows Operating System, mechanical design experience and the ability to read mechanical engineering drawings.
This is a project based course where the focus is on using SolidWorks to complete a project from concept through to finished product, including some marketing materials. The project covers molded part design as well as machine design. As part of the design and documentation process, the full power of SolidWorks will be used, including Configurations, Design Tables, Sheet Metal, Weldments, Toolbox, PhotoWorks, Animator and 3D Content Central. This course is fast paced and intense, designed to reflect the reality of industry today.

DRWG1620 SolidWorks Drawings
Description: This is a project based course where the focus is on using SolidWorks to completely document a project from concept through to finished product using every aspect SolidWorks Drawings.
As part of the documentation process, the full power of SolidWorks Drawings will be used. Adding annotations to models for drawing display, creating custom templates (drawing borders), symbols such as GD&T, weld, surface finish, and creation of custom blocks will be covered. Bill of Materials will be covered in detail, as well as creating process sheets for manufacture and assembly, all view creation techniques.
