Medical Radiation Technology Ontario Advanced College Diploma
ObjectivesAs a professional, the MRT must be a person with a keen sense of responsibility and possess a high degree of integrity and empathy for the patient combined with a desire to serve in the prevention and treatment of human disease. The MRT is responsible for the production and processing of images (electronic & hard copy) for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of traumas and medical conditions. Other duties may include the use of computerized hospital information systems and picture archive and communication systems. A comprehensive two and a half year program, which prepares medical radiation technologists for entry to the profession, is offered by Confederation College with clinical rotations at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre and other sites in and out of Thunder Bay.
Practical experienceWithin the program, the student will participate in a variety of theory courses mixed with laboratory practice before entering into clinical practice in the hospital.
