CADD-1039 - Computer Aided Design for MIM
This course is devoted to the introduction of Compter Aided Drawing (CAD) using AutoCad 2008. Topics include: Drawing file setup, creating and editing two dimensional objects, managing object properties, dimensioning, text, blocks, layout and plotting.
COMP-1336 - Computer Literacy
This course will introduce students to various computer concepts, including Hardware, Operating Systems, Word Processing, and Spreadsheets. Through lecture and hands-on classes, the student will learn each module's everyday uses and apply them to their courses.
ELEC-1037 - Industrial Electricity
An introductory course to the basic theory and practice related to Industrial Electricity. Topics inclued basic electrical test equipment, electrical DC and AC theory, motors and components, different types of voltages, magnetism and electro-magnetism, motor control circuits, and circuit protection devices. The practical section concludes with building simulated, motor control circuits as well as troubleshooting assignments. Electrical Safety will be stressed.
ELNC-1006 - Programmable Logic Controllers
The course is designed to provide the fundamental knowledge and skills required to comprehend, program, and troubleshoot PLC control systems. After beginning with the study of Power Supplies and Digital Logic concepts, the course explores the fundamentals of PLC systems. The course then proceeds with control diagrams, programming languages and ladder logic control circuits. The course also explains what is available in PLC control and where and why they are used.
HIST-1026 - The History of Manufacturing
The intent of this course is to give students an understanding of the development of modern manufacturing. The course will highlight the key aspects of manufacturing in a historical context and relate them to modern day needs. The last few sessions will be spent examining how the role of modern maintenance has developed in the last 100 years.
MACH-1041 - Power Transmission Theory
An introduction to Power Transmission that will provide the student with a basic knowledge required for repairing and maintaining industrial machinery and equipment. This will result in a fundamental knowledge of drive components, i.e., bearings, belt, gear and chain drives, equipment installation, machine leveling and alignment, preventative maintenance.
MACH-1042 - Applied Power Transmission
This course is designed to provide the student with the fundamental skills required for repairing and maintaining industrial machinery. The Power Transmission course combines the skills acquired in the machining, welding, fluid mechanics and electrical courses of the Industrial Maintenance Mechanics program.
MACH-1043 - Machine Tool Theory
This course will provide the student with the fundamental knowledge required to operate standard layout and measuring tools, hand tools, and a variety of machine tools which may be required to produce, maintain or repair industrial machinery.
MACH-1044 - Applied Machining
This course will provide the student the fundamental skills required to operate standard layout and measuring tools, hand tools and a variety of machine tools which may be required to produce, maintain or repair industrial machinery.
MACH-1056 - Applied Fluid Mechanics
An introductory Fluid Power course in both pneumatics and hydraulics. The student will understand the operation, maintenance and trouble-shooting of the fluid system. Reading and building schematics circuits will be a large part of understanding the system. Disassembling and reassembling of various pneumatic and hydraulic components will also be covered.
