Financial Services Ontario College Advanced Diploma
ObjectivesContinued growth in the financial services sector provides exciting employment opportunities for qualified individuals. Rationalization and consolidation within the industry has reduced the number of traditional entry-level jobs, such as bank tellers. However, other factors have countered this by creating more stimulating and higher-skilled positions. These factors include a more marketing-focused industry, increased competition, demographics, advances in technology and a global financial environment. The skills required of financial services graduates have changed dramatically in recent years. Graduates must be appropriately licensed and accredited by successfully completing a number of industry courses. Centennial has designed the program to include these courses so that graduates may present employers with meaningful industry credentials. Students will take courses that lead to eligibility for securities licensing, financial planning accreditation and insurance licensing. In addition to these courses, the program emphasizes general business knowledge, selling skills, technical skills, high-level communications and analytical skills.
Practical experienceThere is an optional co-op aspect associated with this program.
