  • Objectives This program will prepare students for the ever changing industry of Esthetics, whether pursuing a career at a salon or establishing a salon within the field. Completion of this program will provide skills in various treatment techniques with sufficient knowledge of biochemistry, anatomy and theory to implement esthetic treatments and advise industry consumers. The program will stress manipulative skills and the theory to understand the operations of the esthetic industry. Topics include manicure, pedicure, make-up application, body sugaring and waxing, spa treatments, aromatherapy, product knowledge, marketing, equipment knowledge, massage, chemistry applications and business management.

  • Course description ESTH1020      Professional Make-Up
    Description: Topics of study include day, night and special occasions make-up, shading, contouring, colour analysis, and product knowledge. Students will be able to do professional make-up as part of the esthetics trade or work as make-up artists.

    ESTH1140     Applied Body and Spa Treatments

    Description: This course will provide theory and practical knowledge in body treatments. Students will familiarize themselves with wraps, scrubs, hydrotherapies, dry brushing, aromatherapy and other therapies offered in the esthetical field. Successful graduates will be able to apply their knowledge in spa settings.

    ESTH1150     Body Waxing

    Description: This course will teach students the history, art and science of body sugaring, and show them how to make their own body sugar paste by using inexpensive natural ingredients. Students will learn the techniques and be able to demonstrate the removal of unwanted hair using this safe and hygienic procedure. Students will gain confidence in both theory and practice to apply these skills.

    ESTH1160     Career Planning for Esthetical Opportunities

    Description: This course will introduce the students to the fundamentals of being a professional esthetician, from human resources, and business owner perspectives. Consideration of career opportunities, professional conduct dealing with people, marketing, retailing, purchasing, and aspects of managing a successful business will be covered. Students will learn how to prepare themselves for working in esthetics service trade.

    ESTH1170     Esthetical Science - Anatomy
    Description: This course is designed to provide the biology and chemistry information required for the esthetics field. This theory course not only covers the anatomy and physiology of the skin, but explores how the human body works, and how this directly relates to esthetics. Students will also gain information on bacteria, branches of chemistry to understand how chemistry applications relate to cosmetics.

    ESTH1180     Skin Care II
    Description: This course is designed to be a continuation of Skin Care 1, offering students more in depth knowledge of facial care treatments, massage steps, specialty masks, peels and will also incorporate the use of machinery for facials. Focus of this course is directed at specialty masks and treatments for more advanced facials. Students will benefit from greater product knowledge and advanced facial applications. Students will also gain theory knowledge about laser and electrolysis.

    ESTH1190     Manicure Techniques

    Description: Students will learn theory and practices of hand care, generic product knowledge, hand massage, nail polish applications and specialty manicure treatments. Successful graduates will be able to utilize their learned skills to themselves or as a manicurist to others.

    ESTH1200     Pedicure Procedures
    Description: Students will be educated in the theory and practice of foot care, generic product knowledge, pedicure massage, polish application, specialty treatments. Students will receive in depth knowledge about public hygiene, skin disorders and diseases and how they pertain to pedicuring feet. Students will know how to pedicure diabetic feet and cancer patients, clients and themselves.

    ESTH1210     Clinical Practices for Esthetics
    Description: This course is designed to offer students an evaluation of practical applications of all esthetical courses, performed on models to prepare them for the esthetical trade/field.

    ESTH1270     Skin Care I
    Description: This course will teach the principles of facial care, massage and skin treatment both in theory and in practice. Students will familiarize themselves with various cosmetic products, tools and equipment for practising modern skin care as a part of the field of Esthetics. Successful graduates will be able to apply their new skills to themselves or as a Skin Care Technician.
