ObjectivesThe two-year Construction Engineering Technician diploma program leads to many careers in the construction industry, and is structured so that an additional year of study leads to an advanced diploma as a civil engineering technologist. The program is a blend of theory and practice, and many courses such as surveying, construction materials, and estimating include a lab or practice component. The program has many links with the local construction industry, including many summer job opportunities. At the end of the second year, students can chose to enter the third year of the Civil Engineering Technology program. The Construction Engineering Technician program is now a laptop program. As a student in this program you will be required to own a laptop computer that meets minimum hardware and software specifications. These specifications can be found on the college website at algonquincollege.com/its/laptop/. You may elect to purchase a new laptop from a vendor of your choice, but we recommend you check the Algonquin College Technology Store which offers laptop computers and software at very competitive prices.
