Course descriptionThe Community Health Care Worker program at CDI College takes a broad approach to caregiving careers and prepares students to support those living with a range of physical and mental disabilities. Students in this program learn to assist those living in residential and long term care facilities as well as those living with physical and behavioural challenges and mental health issues. Students develop specific knowledge about anatomy, terminology, human development and interpersonal relationships. They also build the skills required to provide home support, behavior management and program planning.
Students also have ample opportunity to put theory and skill into practice through multiple practicum placements. Upon completion of this program, graduates will have earned Community Health Care Worker and Health Care Assistant diplomas and several certifications that caregivers in the field are required to possess.
