ObjectivesThis program offers academic studies, clinical practice and field placement to prepare students to practice dependently, interdependently and collaboratively with health care professionals in a variety of practice settings. Academic studies emphasize a systematic approach using the most current standards of practice and ethical principles.The process of dental hygiene care includes client assessment, individual planning of services and provision of services currently within the scope of dental hygiene practice and evaluation.
Practical experienceDental Hygiene students demonstrate their learning and performance achievements on mannequins and later on clients in the college dental clinic. A variety of community field placements also provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attitudes that are necessary and significant to be effective care providers.
