Certificate in English as a Second Language for International Students
ObjectivesThe English as a Second Language (ESL) for International Students program offers college-approved courses to international students wishing to learn English to improve communication in their academic, work and social lives. This program has eight (8) Levels that range from limited English language skills to academic preparation for post-secondary studies. On successful completion of Level 08 with a B average, graduates meet College English entrance requirements (additional program requirements may be necessary).
Entry requirementsLanguage students have daily use of the Multimedia Language Centre (MMLC). This state-of-the-art lab provides a rich collection of resources (CD-Rom, audio, video, print, internet, CAN 8) to help students improve their English knowledge and skills. In Levels 01 to 05 and Level 08, students take a course called 'Independent Learning Projects'. Language focused activities and projects help students integrate their language skills being developed in the classroom setting and meet personal goals. In Levels 06 and 07, students take a two-part General Education course that earns them a post-secondary credit.
