Certificate in Commercial Vehicle Common Core (Apprentice)
ObjectivesThis apprenticeship program serves as the basic level in-school portion for four motive power trades: truck and coach technician, farm equipment mechanic, heavy duty equipment mechanic, and powered lift truck technician. The curriculum is based on skills and competencies common to these related occupations. During this eight-week level, students study subjects such as: trade practices, fluid power systems, engine systems, electrical systems, fuel systems, drive train systems, and brake systems. Students spend 40 per cent of each 30-hour week performing practical exercises in the college's shops. The remainder of time is spent learning theory.
