Students must apply to the Departmental Undergraduate Advisor for admission to the Honours Program. With the exception of first-year direct-entry students, those seeking admission usually apply after completion of a miniumum of 30 credits at Concordia University. Students must have an overall CGPA of 3.30 to qualify for entry to Honours. After entry, they must maintain a minimum CGPA of 3.30. The following courses in an approved sequence constitute Honours in History.
A high level of performance is required to enter and remain in the Honours program. There are two options within this program:
A. Honours Essay Option
* 6 required credits in European History at the introductory level
* 6 elective credits in North American History at the introductory level
* 6 elective credits in non‑Western* History at the introductory level
* 3 elective credits in History from an introductory or intermediate level
* 12 elective credits in History from an intermediate level
* 3 required credits in the Philosophy and Practice of History
* 3 required credits in Methodology and History
* 9 required credits in Preparation of Honours Essay and Tutorial
* 12 elective credits in History from an advanced level
* 30 elective credits in any department
B. Seminar Option
* 6 required credits in European history at the introductory level
* 6 required credits in North American history at the introductory level
* 6 required credits in non-Western* history at the introductory level
* 6 elective credits in History from an introductory or intermediate level
* 12 elective credits in History from an intermediate level
* 6 required credits in the philosophy and methodology of historical enquiry
* 18 elective credits in History from an advanced level
* 30 elective credits in any department
Specialization in History: 60 credits
* 6 required credits in European history at the introductory level
* 6 required credits in North American history at the introductory level
* 6 required credits in non-Western* history at the introductory level
* 6 elective credits in History from an introductory or intermediate level
* 27 elective credits in History from an intermediate level
* 3 required credits in the philosophy and methodology of historical enquiry
* 6 elective credits in History from an advanced level
* 30 elective credits in any department
Major in History: 42 credits
* 6 required credits in European history at the introductory level
* 6 required credits in North American history at the introductory level
* 6 required credits in non-Western* history at the introductory level
* 18 elective credits in History at the intermediate level
* 6 elective credits in History at the intermediate or advanced level
* 48 elective credits in any department, which may take the form of a Major or Minor in another department
Minor in History: 24 credits
* 12 credits in field surveys in European, non-Western*, Canadian or American history at the introductory level
* 12 elective credits in History with a minimum of six credits at the intermediate level
*Non-Western history includes African, Asian, Latin American, and Middle Eastern history.
