ObjectivesWhether your dream is in Acting, Directing, Playwriting, Costume Design and Construction, Set Design, Lighting, Sound, Props, or Stage Management, the Dalhousie Theatre Department has a programme designed to give you everything you need to get you started in your chosen career. We have five programmes of study to choose from: Acting, Costume Studies, Music and Theatre, Scenography and Technical Scenography and Theatre Studies.
Practical experienceIn the spirit of true collaboration, students from all five areas of study come together four times a year to present our DalTheatre productions. They have the opportunity to work alongside nationally and internationally known Directors and Designers to create professional calibre theatre.

1. Theatre Studies
This degree is designed for students who wish to follow a program of theatre studies that keeps the whole of theatre in perspective, is academically oriented, and serves as a strong foundation for graduate degrees in Theatre and Drama, or as a good preparation for a variety of professional and education degrees. Honours students must maintain at least a B+ average in all of their advanced Theatre classes.
