Audio Post-Production Ontario College Graduate Certificate
ObjectivesThe Audio Post-Production program is a graduate certificate program which provides intensive practical and theoretical instruction and hands-on applications for acquiring high level proficiency and creativity in the digital audio, digital video and multi media fields. Individual and group projects are built based on hands-on equipment use, process oriented instruction, working with other departments within the college and independent lab time.

MIDI-6001 - Digital Applications Theory
This course examines the advanced theory and practice of sound in film, television, gaming, live and multimedia. Audio pre production/planning, production and post production phases and workflows are looked at. Current production techniques frequently used in the post-production and live sound industries will be explored. Current synchronization, delivery and storage formats are explained. The balance between aesthetics and techniques used in sound and video production will be considered.
MIDI-6002 - Independent Lab - Digital
This course revolves around independent lab study. Over 250 hours of digital lab time is assigned for both short term and full term projects. Professor assigned and self-directed projects are done. Solo projects, group projects and projects with other programs within the college are also assigned.
MIDI-6003 - Digital Applications Practical
This course strengthens skills in advanced audio and video techniques. Hands-on skills are regularly given requiring the use of digital audio and digital video recording and editing technology. Applications include audio for video, surround sound production for picture, production dialog recording and editing, ADR, foley, sound effects, segment based and linear based music writing, audio premixing and mixing, video editing audio mastering and restoration. Students have the opportunity of working with students from other graduate and under-graduate programs within the college.
MIDI-6004 - Digital Applications Theory
This course is a continuation of MIDI 6001 and looks at the advanced theory of digital technology as a whole, and explains the processes required to apply it to the applications of recording and editing digital audio and digital video elements individually and/or together. Advanced techniques for gaming, television, film, Internet audio delivery and live sound are explored
MIDI-6005 - Independent Lab - Digital
This course revolves around independent lab study. Over 250 hours of digital audio, live sound and video production lab time is assigned for both short term and full term projects. Professor assigned and self-directed projects are done. Solo projects, group projects and projects with other programs within the college are also assigned and evaluated.
MIDI-6006 - Digital Applications Practical
A continuation of MIDI 6003, this course further strengthens skills and decision making in advanced audio and video techniques. Hands-on assignments, including directed and self directed term projects and are regularly given requiring the use of digital audio and digital video recording and editing technology. Both short and long form projects will be completed. Applications include audio for video, surround sound production for picture, ADR, foley, sound effects, segment based and linear based music writing, video editing, DVD authoring and live audio and video production. Students will develop a professional portfolio. Students have the opportunity of working with students from other graduate and under-graduate programs within the college.
