Architectural Technology Ontario College Advanced Diploma
ObjectivesArchitectural Technology graduates will have broad knowledge of building construction with design ability in the architectural and structural disciplines, working drawing production, computer applications, building specifications and codes. The curriculum consists of construction methods and architectural design techniques, production of presentation and construction drawings including structural, electrical and mechanical building systems. Emphasis is placed on modern construction practices conforming to current building codes. Computer applications are introduced in the first semester and applied to construction management, surveying, structural design, computer assisted drafting, architectural design, mechanical and electrical services. The development of computer skills is integral to the Architectural program ensuring that students become proficient in the use of the computer as a tool of the industry. This enables the graduates to be of immediate value to employers and encourages them to achieve the maximum level of their academic ability. Building projects during the three years will cover wood frame construction, masonry, steel, concrete and composite construction.
