ObjectivesStudents in this program receive in-depth, practical training in office accounting procedures. A strong emphasis is placed on current business computer applications encompassing accounting, database, spreadsheet and payroll software. Particular attention is given to file management procedures. Included in the program are such financial procedures as bookkeeping, control accounts, general and subsidiary ledgers, end of fiscal period adjustments and statements, banking, inventory control and payroll preparation and reporting. In addition, students will receive training in mathematical applications, business communications and employability skills.
Practical experienceThe full-time Applied Bookkeeping Certificate Program has one practicum, giving you work experience before you even graduate. The practicum is three weeks in length, and many students are asked to stay on in regular positions once their practicum is completed.
