In this course, students will become knowledgeable regarding the role of the Advanced Care Paramedic as it relates to medico-legal aspects, legislation, decision-making, ethics, role within the health care team, written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal relationships.
In this course, students will review pharmacology, physiology, and pathophysiology. Emphasis will be placed on medications administered by the ACP as well as parenteral administration of fluids. Physiology and pathophysiology related to the disorders of hemodynamics and shock, respiratory function, cardiovascular function, brain function, and trauma as well as specific obstetrical and pediatric complications will be addressed and the skills practised in a laboratory setting.

In this course, students will gain knowledge and practical laboratory skills related to the advanced assessment and treatment of patients with respiratory and cardiovascular disorders. Emphasis will be placed on knowledge and skills of the ACP level as well as medication, reporting and documentation, specific to these types of disorders.

In this course, students will gain knowledge and practical laboratory skills related to the advanced assessment and treatment of patients with disorders of the brain, traumatic injuries as well as paediatric and obstetrical presentations. Emphasis will be placed on knowledge and skills of the ACP as well as medication, reporting and documentation, specific to these specific types of disorders.
Semester 2
# APG7188 - 240 - ACP Clinical Experience
In this course, students will apply advanced knowledge and skills acquired within the classroom and laboratory settings to the hospital clinical environment. Experiences will be gained in a variety of settings, which will enable the students to become competent in the attainment of advanced skills.
